Guess What Jisoo Wanted to Be Before Joining Blackpink!
For BLINKs and her devoted fans, it’s almost impossible to picture Jisoo as anything other than a global music icon and a rising actor. Yet, these weren’t the aspirations she originally had in mind. In fact, her childhood dreams were worlds apart from the glitz and glamour of showbiz.

In a 2023 interview with Teen Vogue, Jisoo revealed that before stepping into the world of K-pop, she aspired to be a painter. She gave up on the idea, not because of music, but because she thought drawing was far too challenging.
Her next dream was to become a doctor, but that ambition fizzled out after realizing how much studying the field required.
Switching gears, Jisoo tapped into her sporty side and considered becoming a basketball player, confident in her hoop-shooting skills. But once again, a hurdle appeared—she believed her height wasn’t ideal for pursuing basketball professionally.
Still, fate had bigger plans. Outside of music, Jisoo debuted as an actress with a cameo in the 2015 series The Producers before landing her first leading role in Snowdrop (2021). Now, in 2025, she’s poised to star in K-dramas Newtopia and Monthly Boyfriend as well as her big-screen debut in Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, alongside Lee Min-Ho, Chae Soo-Bin, and Ahn Hyo-Seop.
From unfulfilled childhood dreams to conquering global fame, Jisoo’s journey proves she was destined to shine—whether on stage or screen.
